University Sports Center Badminton Courts

Project Background
The sports center of a key university needed to upgrade the flooring of its existing badminton hall. The venue is used for daily physical education, university team training, and provincial-level badminton tournaments for college students, with more than 50,000 visits per year. The original flooring suffered from partial wear and reduced elasticity, compromising sports experience and safety.

Client Requirements
The flooring must comply with the competition standards of the Badminton World Federation (BWF); provide excellent shock absorption to protect students’ and athletes’ joints; have a moderate surface friction coefficient for fast acceleration and emergency stops; feature outstanding wear resistance for high-intensity daily use; and the construction period must be completed within 40 days during summer vacation to avoid affecting the new semester’s teaching.

Solution
Professional badminton court vinyl flooring with a thickness of 4.8mm was adopted. The surface features special anti-slip treatment, with a stable friction coefficient of 0.5–0.6. The high-density foam underlayer delivers exceptional shock absorption, achieving a shock absorption rate of over 35%, effectively reducing knee strain during long-term exercise.

Court lines were strictly marked in accordance with international competition standards with clear boundaries. The color scheme uses the green-and-red combination recommended by the BWF to minimize visual fatigue. The product is BWF-certified and meets the requirements for professional competitions.

The construction team worked in zones and adopted a seamless welding process, ensuring the floor flatness error was controlled within 2mm. The entire progress was closely supervised, and all installation and curing work was completed in 38 days.

Implementation Results
After the venue was put into use, the head coach of the university badminton team commented: “The new court has uniform elasticity and precise ball rebound trajectory. The players obviously feel less pressure on their knees during training.”
Statistics from the university’s sports department show that the court is in use for more than 12 hours per day on average, with no obvious wear after six months of inspection.

The venue has successfully hosted two provincial-level badminton championships for college students, receiving high praise from participating athletes and referees for the court quality. The university stated that the professional performance and durability of the new flooring exceeded expectations, and plans to gradually renovate other venues in phases.
